Dr. Cari L. Carter is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Interdisciplinary Studies
for Texas Tech University Graduate School. Dr. Carter worked in the telecommunications
industry for over ten years before joining Texas Tech as a staff member in 2015.
In her staff role, she served as the Scholarship and Fellowship Administrator for
the Graduate School and coordinated Graduate School events and conferences including
the Three Minute Thesis® Competition, Arts and Humanities Graduate Student Research
Conference, and Graduate Student Research Poster Competition. Dr. Carter earned her
B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies, M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction
with an emphasis in Language and Literacy Education, and Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction
with an emphasis in Language, Diversity, and Literacy Studies. She also holds a Developmental
Literacy certificate. Dr. Carter has been selected to participate in the 2021-2022
President's Leadership Institute at Texas Tech. Her research interests include new
literacies, fanfiction, professional development, and interdisciplinary studies.
