You do not need to be a music major to join an ensemble.

The Texas Tech University Choir is the premier auditioned choir in the School of Music, comprised of mixed voices.  With graduate and undergraduate music majors, as well as students of majors from across campus, the choir performs music from a wide variety of styles and time periods. The University Choir performs as part of a regular concert series and in a variety of other venues including in collaboration with other Texas Tech choirs, high school choirs, the Lubbock Chorale, and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra

Audition Information

  1. Prepare and sing 60-seconds of a prepared solo piece (classical style preferred);
    accompanist will be provided.
  2. Sight-read a provided melody.
  3. Sing prescribed vocal exercises.
  4. Prepare and sing the following choral excerpts:

    2. Excerpt #2
