Robert Don Collier '73
Bob was the first in his family to attend college and had never even met a lawyer when he applied to law school. But after three very rewarding years at Texas Tech University School of Law, he graduated number one in his class and as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. Following law school, he obtained an LL.M. in Taxation at NYU.
In 1983, Bob was one of the founding partners of the Dallas firm now known as Meadows, Collier, Reed, Cousins, Crouch and Ungerman, L.L.P., where he served as Managing Partner from 1983 to 2015.
Texas Tech Law was a special place to Bob, and he often spoke about how he received an almost free legal education that changed nearly every aspect of his life and enabled his professional success. He was honored in 2014 as a Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, was a member of the Texas Tech Law School Foundation Board (2016-2020), and served as vice-chair of the Board's development committee (2017-2020).
As a testament to his love of Texas Tech Law, Bob created numerous scholarship endowments and made the largest gift in the school's history. He believed these scholarships would empower their recipients to achieve great success and he hoped they would, in turn, carry on the tradition of giving back to future law students at Texas Tech.
Thanks to Bob's immense generosity, his gift of over $14 million has made an enormous impact on the Law School. His legacy and passion for helping others will be an enduring source of inspiration and support for countless generations of Texas Tech law students.
