Dr. Jhones O. Sarturi

Associate Professor,
Beef Cattle Nutrition and Metabolism

Dr. Sarturi is an Associate Professor of Beef Cattle Nutrition and Rumen Metabolism within the Department of Animal and Food Sciences at Texas Tech University, Lubbock since early 2013. He received his Veterinary Medicine degree from the University for the Development of Pantanal – Brazil, a master’s degree in Agronomy from the University of Sao Paulo – Brazil, and a Ph.D. in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Dr. Sarturi also worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Texas A&M AgriLife Research prior to his current position.

Dr. Sarturi's research focus has been on digestive physiology, while developing strategies to improve, evaluate, and better utilize byproducts, forages, and grains in diets for ruminants. As the manager for the Ruminant Nutrition Laboratory and the Ruminant Nutrition Center, Dr. Sarturi fosters basic and applied research. Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students have also been Dr. Sarturi’s mission. He teaches undergraduate (service learning and production level classes) and graduate level, with six classes offered at his home department.

As a Faculty Fellow at International Affairs, his international credentials on research, teaching, and outreach & engagement are consolidated to empower colleagues and foster their international collaborations and community global impact.

 

Dr. Jeffrey Harper

Associate Professor of Practice,
Marketing and Supply Chain Managment

Dr. Harper is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Rawls College Marketing & Supply Chain Area. Jeffrey received his BBA in Management (1994), MBA (international business, 1998) Ph. D in Hospitality Administration (2016) all from Texas Tech University. Dr. Harper has extensive international experience, having studied abroad for his undergraduate degree at the University of London in England, as well as during his MBA program at the Helsinki School of Business and Economics in Helsinki, Finland.

Dr. Harper started his career with the Rawls College of Business as the founder of the International Business Programs Office in 1997. In this capacity, he expanded the Rawls foreign study programs from five programs and 25 participants in 1997 to over 42 foreign study programs with 487 student participants by 2008. Dr. Harper has led foreign study programs for the Rawls College on 19 occasions to Italy, Ireland, and Norway.  In 2008, Dr. Harper attained a full-time position in the Marketing & Supply Chain Area.

In 2019, Dr. Harper was inducted into Texas Tech University's Teaching Academy for his contributions to the classroom. He currently serves on the executive committee of the Teaching Academy and is the chair elect for 2026-2027.
