Associate Vice Provost for International Affairs
Clifford Fedler, Ph.D., currently serves as the Associate Vice Provost for International Affairs and the Director of the International Center for Arid and Semiarid Land Studies (ICASALS). In this capacity, he is dedicated to promoting the internationalization of research across the campus and advancing the initiatives of ICASALS.
Previously, he served as Associate Dean of the Graduate School, overseeing graduate program reviews and successfully increasing scholarship endowments by over $30 million. Dr. Fedler has actively engaged in various research initiatives focused on water quality and sustainability. He has chaired committees for over 160 graduate students and participated in committees for more than 75 additional students. His international travel has primarily centered on disseminating his research and includes contributions to the establishment of a new academic department at a newly developed university. His work has also included consulting on new construction and the rehabilitation of existing academic infrastructure and research programs, contributed to the development of distance education courses, and worked on creating wastewater recycling systems for economic development, as well as fostering the growth of in-country doctoral talent. His international engagements have taken him to countries such as China, Ethiopia, Brazil, Peru, Jordan, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico, Turkey, Canada, Australia, Newfoundland, and Botswana. Moreover, he has provided consultation to government and industry leaders on business development initiatives stemming from his research activities.
