Dr. Andrew Gibb

Dr. Andrew Gibb serves as an assistant dean for the J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual and Performing Arts. His primary areas of focus include enrollment and financial support for the College’s graduate student population, student Research & Creative Activity (RCAA) awards, and TCVPA undergraduate scholarships.

An associate professor in the School of Theatre and Dance, Dr. Gibb previously held the positions of Associate Director and Graduate Advisor in that school. He edited the journal Theatre Symposium, and was elected Vice President for Conference for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE).

A theatre historian whose work focuses on performance in the North American Far West, Dr. Gibb is the author of Californios, Anglos, and the Performance of Oligarchy in the U.S. West (Southern Illinois UP, 2018), and has published essays in Theatre History Studies, the New England Theatre Journal, the Latin American Theatre Review, Theatre Symposium, and the Texas Theatre Journal.

Dr. Gibb received the Ph.D. in Theatre Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and an M.F.A. in Acting from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
