  • Collective Action
    • Collective Action was founded on the mission to create an environment for freedom of expression through dance improvisation. The sessions/quorum will be guided by this ideal, as participants will be encouraged to explore new pathways of movement without fear of judgment. Participants can and will interact with each other through contact improvisation, connecting on the dance floor through movement. The dancing will be guided partially by verbal prompts and partially guided by sound and musicality, as the accompanist will create music for the dancers to move to. Equally, the dancers will create movement for the music to respond to. This ideal takes away the stigma that movement is dictated by sound; it can be the other way around. In addition to regular sessions, members will have exclusive access to guest artists and performances. Induction fees of members/dues will help to support this endeavor. The intention is for this group to be affordable, where anyone can join, as the central mission is to expand dance and arts in Lubbock and at Texas Tech.
