In the 2019 Spring semester, Dean San Francisco will be offering a series of weekly Intro-to-Research workshops. These workshops are intended as an introduction for those Honors students who would like to learn more about Undergraduate Research or who plan to conduct research through the Undergraduate Research Scholars Program. These workshops are not for credit, but the Dean highly encourages those students who intend to conduct research, or just want to learn more about the research process, to attend the workshop sessions.
Topics covered include: What is research? What are the purposes and benefits of various kinds of research and how do they differ by discipline? How does one conduct research responsibly, covering ethics and safety? What opportunities and resources exist on campus for undergraduate researchers? How do undergraduate researchers find mentors, and how do they build and maintain fruitful mentor relationships? Plus a lot more!
You will also have the opportunity to meet faculty who are doing research in many fields and apply to conduct research with them.
