Sean Allen Jones (BFA, 1998; MA, 2022) is a well-loved personality in the Texas Tech University (TTU) School of Theatre & Dance alumni community and a founding member of THE EDGE: A COMPANY OF FINE ARTISTS, one of Lubbock’s newest and most exciting non-profit theatres. Among the Lubbock addiction recovery community – which is much larger than you might expect – he has also developed a reputation as a generous and giving person who is incredibly open about his own journey.
Jaston Williams (Speech Major, 70’-73') is no stranger to Lubbock, Texas. He spent his childhood summer afternoons playing on his grandparents’ West Texas lawn just minutes away from the Texas Tech campus. The third generation Red Raider explored everything the campus had to offer during his early years, but it was a high school summer camp that introduced him to the theatre department.
In September, Dr. Charney led a group of nine graduate students to Provincetown, Massachusetts to participate in the Tennessee Williams Institute and Festival where they watched plays by or related to Tennessee Williams, and discussed them, along with other scholarship, in an Institute, now in its 11th year. The theme of the festival this year was “Tutti-Frutti,” including almost all plays by Williams.
In September, Texas Tech Theatre and Dance introduced something new to our social media platforms: the Instagram Takeover. These takeovers feature members of our program as they go about their days on campus, giving alumni, potential students, and all our other followers the inside scoop on the Red Raider theatre and dance experience.
