why choose texas tech School of Art

At the School of Art (SOA), we recognize that artists today are not just makers of images and objects, but – more importantly – cultural producers, trend-setters, activists, and leaders, who use art to shape a global conversation on the world we live in. Here at the SOA, making and thinking are inseparable: learn to move freely between courses in art history and theory, and studio production. You will be encouraged to cross artistic disciplines, to experiment with new media and techniques, and to infuse your art with history and theory. Exhibition opportunities allow you to present your work long before you graduate. Your greatest challenge will be to find and develop your artistic voice – one that can transform complex ideas and experiences into rich and vivid forms. Come here for that world of possibility.
